What you will work on

Three tasks from the kind of work interns do in this track. Yours depend on the team you join.

[REVIEW: real examples from group companies]

  1. Check a web app for common weaknesses

Test the login, forms and file uploads against the OWASP Top 10 list, and write up what you find with steps anyone can repeat.

  2. Review who can access what

Go through the user accounts and permissions on a company tool, and list the ones that should be removed or tightened.

  3. Write a short security guide for staff

Turn what you found into a one page guide on phishing and passwords that people will actually read.

What your mentor checks

Your mentor is someone from the team. They review what you submit every week and ask questions like these. [REVIEW: how often]

  • Can someone else repeat your finding from your steps?
  • Did you rate how serious it is, and say why?
  • Did you stay inside the agreed scope?
  • Is your suggested fix practical for the team?

Skills you will use

You do not need all of these on day one. Our free trainings cover the basics, and you learn the rest on the project.

  • OWASP Top 10
  • Burp Suite or OWASP ZAP basics
  • Linux command line
  • Networks: ports, DNS, HTTP
  • Clear bug reports
  • Responsible disclosure
